Power Of Present Day Prayer
Every now and then I am reminded of how MUCH we potentially KNOW today, how much INSIGHT we have to spiritual matters, and yet how LITTLE we use those powers. The development of quantum physics in the last one hundred years has opened the door to a better understanding of the POWER of PRAYER and yet we pray LESS and seemingly have FEWER positive responses.
One of my favorite places to just hang out and BE is the Borders Book Store on Kirby.
Sunday, Lyn and I just hung out for 3-4 hours reading, drinking some of Seattle's Best coffee (owned by Starbucks of course), and meditating. The second story outdoor balcony is a great place to still sense and feel the rays and vibrations of nature. However, I digress.
It was in the reading of some of Annie Besant's views on prayer that got me to this awareness.
Annie Besant (1847 ' 1933) was a prominent Theosophist, women's rights activist, writer and orator and supporter of Irish and Indian self rule. But what attracts me to her views is that she was definitely a mystic and an esoteric Christian. There's so much that orthodox Christianity (which rules but isn't always right) stole from the Gnostics and Jesus. While Annie really pre-dated quantum physics and our deeper understandings on some of the mechanics of prayer, she got it by the Spirit.
Let me share a couple of her quotes:
>"Prayer comes in several modes of consciousness."
>"All the world is filled with living things, invisible to the fleshly eyes. The invisible worlds interpenetrate the visible, and crowd of intelligent beings throng around us on every side as we pray."
>"Christianity recognizes the existence of the higher classes of Intelligences under the general name of angels and teaches that they are ministering spirits (Heb. 1:14), but the actual communication with them in these days have sunk into the background."
>"For the Protestant, the 'ministry of angels' is little more than a phrase".
>"Man is a constant creator of invisible beings, for the vibrations of his thoughts and the desires create forms of subtle matter the only life of which is the thought or desire which ensouls them; he thus creates an army of invisible servants who range through the invisible worlds seeking to do his will."
>"Best of all there is the ever-present, ever-conscious Lie of God Himself, potent and responsive at every point of His realm, of Him without whose knowledge not a sparrow falleth to the ground (Matt. 10:29).
We ARE our hourly and moment-by-moment THOUGHTS!
We are co-creators with God-Consciousness-Father, and he gave us a brain and mind with which we're to USE and not ABUSE (mostly by lack of use). Present day prayer power always has been: we just know more about it in 2010 and therefore we have more accountability to be faithful to embrace it. The power of prayer when bathed in unconditional love does MOVE MOUNTAINS!
